Stylianos Zachopoulos' Obituary
Stylianos Zachopoulos, age 64, loving husband of Katherine (nee Hatzis) married for 39 years, dear father of Georgia and Apostolos “Paul,” brother of Vangeli (Ellie) and Dino, son of Apostolos and Antigoni (both deceased), brother-in-law of Harry Hatzis, passed away unexpectedly in Greece on July 13, 2016. Stylianos was born and raised in Greece and held great pride in his Greek heritage. He moved to the United States in 1981 at the age of 29 to make a better life for himself and his family. An accomplished engineering professional, he completed studies both abroad and locally in Cleveland earning his doctorate in civil engineering from Cleveland State University. Well-respected in Northeast Ohio professionally as an engineer, he held the title of principle engineer at MWH Global where he had been employed for near 30 years. Stylianos held interests in sports and travel. He was a huge fan of soccer and all Cleveland sports teams. He was recently able to enjoy the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship with his family, a moment he referred to as “one of the best of [his] life”. Furthermore, he always enjoyed his annual summer vacations to Greece, to which he referred as his true home. Stylianos is remembered by those who were close to him as loving, hard-working, funny, and a loyal husband, father, and friend. A selfless man, he strived to care for his family and put their needs before his. He will live in our hearts forever and we will miss him every day. ALL FUNERAL SERVICES FRIDAY JULY 22, 2016 at 12 pm WITH VISITATION BEFORE FROM 10 to 12 at the ANNUNCIATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH 2187 WEST 14TH ST. CLEVELAND, OH. Interment at St. Theodosius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Annunciation Church.
