Suang Suang King's Obituary
Suang Suang King, age 89, passed peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning, December 13th in Parma, Ohio. Suang Suang had a gift of language, knowing four languages herself. This allowed her to connect with so many people. Family members also learned stories from her time in Taiwan and Japan growing up. She always talked about how much she loved Kyoto, Japan.
Suang Suang had unwavering faith and was a devote Jehovah’s Witness. Until a few years ago, she was often with her brothers and sisters in faith witnessing to others whether in Chinese, Japanese or English.
Suang Suang is survived by her grandsons Vincent Shih and his wife Amanda, and Benjamin King and his wife Cindy. She also has two great-grandchildren Kinley Shih and Carter King. She also has three children, including Ginny Shih.
Over these past years, Suang Suang enjoyed playing board games with her family and was nearly unbeatable at Chinese Checkers. She loved to be around her family sharing stories and laughter. Over the last year, Suang Suang had significant joy watching Carter, her great-grandson, grow and learn. She was there to hold him when he came home from the hospital, walk him in his stroller, sing to him, and watch as he learned new skills like rolling over, sitting up, and standing.
Suang Suang was fondly known by many as “Ama” and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Family and close friends will gather for a service at 2pm on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at Yurch Funeral Home in Parma, Ohio.
