Steven Semall's Obituary
Steven Semall passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age of 63, after fighting a courageous battle against multiple health issues. Survived by high school sweetheart and soulmate of 45 years Sheri. The Best Father of Nicole (Mark) and Brian. Exceptional PaPa to Calvin and Stassi. Cherished son of the late Mary Ann and John Semall and son-in-law of Helen, Tom, and the late Kenneth. Beloved Brother to Paul (Judy), late Bruce (MaryAnn), and Jack. Brother in-law to Therise (Jimmy). Unforgettable Uncle to Jason (Kelly), Erik (Whitney), Andrew (Amanda), Kyle (Brittany), Maygen (Ben), Taylor, and Brandon. Adoring Great Uncle to Jacob, Charlee, Owen, and Sunny.
Although a man of few words, Steven held the charming ability to immediately make others feel like family through his wits, deadpan, and wordplay humor. Despite his large intimidating physique, Stevie (as known by many) carried a mystical charisma that drew others to his warm and kind nature.
An elite athlete who received a full-ride football scholarship to West Virginia University. The essence of Stevie didn’t stop with athletics. He was the chef of the house, laborer of the yard, amateur “Smoke on the Water” guitarist, DJ of the night, caretaker of loved ones, and facilitator of sports viewings. His passion for sports commanded the TV, where just observing him gave one a visceral understanding of his love for the Browns, Tribe, Mountaineers, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Throughout the years he truly was the embodiment of his vows, "for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad." A true family man that put his family first, through sacrifice and unconditional love. As illuminated in his younger years he demonstrated the ability to be a true partner and father through taking on primary caretaker and encouraging the love of his life to pursue a college degree, while they both upheld full-time jobs.
He will always be remembered by his family as the conduit of comic relief, and intuitive pulse that guided a boisterous infinite loving home. And may he leave you with the echoes of, “Here we go Brownies, here we go WOOF WOOF” and “Ahhhhhhhhh, WVU 1st down.” AS HE GOES DIGGIN DOWN THE SIDELINE!!!!
MEMORIAL VISITATION WILL BE WEDNESDAY JULY 17, 2024 from 6 to 8PM at YURCH FUNERAL HOME, 5618 Broadview Rd. Parma, OH 44134.
