Soultana Page's Obituary
Soultana (Sonia) Page (nee Kapetanios), passed away March 31st, 2023.
Beloved wife of 57 years to Kosta (Gus ) Page. Loving mother of Maria (Mark
Brajdich), Evelyn (Dr Spyridon) Kantas and Steven Page (Cynthia Cruz). Dear
grandmother of Athena, Elias, Soultana, Konstantinos and Konstantine.
Our beloved Soultana passed away March 31st, 2023. She was surrounded by
her adoring family and our priest and his lovely wife. She was born on
December 16th, 1939 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Her love story began when she
traveled to Warren Ohio for a short visit and met Kosta. It was love at
first sight and on their first introduction Kosta told her he was going to
marry her. They were married 6 weeks later and shared 57 wonderful years
together. They were very social in their community hosting many parties
with their friends and church groups every weekend. Kosta and Sonia made
their home in Boardman, Ohio where they raised their 3 children, Maria,
Evelyn and Steven.
Sonia was a faithful servant to her Greek Orthodox Church. She was a devout
Christian ,always praying for all of us and lighting her candili daily. She
always put her family first above anything else. She loved us whole
heartedly and was our greatest supporter and best friend. Our mother led us
by example to follow Greek traditions and most importantly cooking our
Greek cuisine . Growing up we came home daily to homemade pitas and a full
course traditional Greek meal that always ended with dessert. Our mother
even made sure to write down her secret recipes for each grandchild to
carry on her legacy. It was so important for her and our father to ingrain
our Greek heritage to their children, that we moved to Greece for a year
and a half so we can experience all the Greek holidays and traditions year
round and not just during our annual summer trips. It was an experience of
a lifetime.
She cherished her five beautiful grandchildren, Athena, Elias, Soultana,
Konstantinos and Konstantine. They were blessed with her benevolent
personality and quick humor with her unexpected one liners that would make
us all say “YIAYIA” !
Our mother embodied compassion and unconditional love which will live on
within all of us through many generations to come. She will be greatly
missed by her loving spouse Kosta and her entire family.
We would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this most
difficult time.
