Sara A. Gedeon's Obituary
Sara A. (Pace) Gedeon passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 30, 2020. She was born in Dover, Ohio on January 16, 1937. She was the oldest daughter in a family of seven, having an older brother who passed away as an infant, two younger sisters and a younger brother.
Sara was a hard worker, beginning her work career in a dress shop as a teenager. She was always very proud of the fact that the store owner assigned her a drawer of her own in the cash register very early on in her employment; a testimony to her exceptional work ethic. After graduating from John Marshall High School in 1955, Sara took a job in payroll at AT&T and married her high school sweetheart, Ed Gedeon. Once their family began two years later, she left her career behind to become a stay-at-home mom. She returned to the work force around 1970 to take a job as an educational aide at Hickory Ridge Elementary School, located right behind their home in Brunswick. She retired from that position around 1994.
In retirement, Sara and Ed enjoyed their home in Chatham, Ohio, and took great joy in raising their Labrador retrievers.
Sara is survived by four daughters, 2 sons-in law, 8 adult grandchildren, 4 adult grandchildren-in-law, 7 great grandchildren, a sister and a brother, and several nieces and nephews.
In Heaven, Sara will be reunited with grandparents, her mother and father, husband of 63 years, and several beloved dogs.
A memorial service for immediate family and close friends will be planned sometime in the future.
