Pauline Stavropoulos' Obituary
Pauline Stavropoulos (nee Papadopulos) 88, beloved wife of Christopher (Deceased); loving mother of Dena Stavros and fiancé Tom Bovitt, Chrisanne (Jim) Begam and loving grandmother to Brittan and Scarlett Begam. Pauline, “Yiayia”, was loved and will be missed by many. Her family emigrated from the same Peloponnese region of Greece and village of Vytina as Chris, but settled in Canton, Ohio. Pauline had a special musical talent and played the piano as a young girl and went on to become a lifetime member of the Greek Orthodox Byzantine choir. Pauline was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School where she was a member of the A’ cappella Choir and the Booster Club. Those who knew Pauline as the prim and proper lady that she was, would be surprised to know that she was a Tomboy and played on the girls’ softball team, even if she did wear black patten leather loafers instead of tennis shoes!. She went on to work in the Secretarial Pool of Timken Roller Bearing until she married Chris, her husband of 65 years and moved to Cleveland. Pauline continued to work as an Executive Secretary, this time at the Ford Motor Company until the start of their family. Pauline was a founding member of St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church and served on the Board of Directors for the Philoptochos (Friends of the Poor/needy) Ministry for many years along with the Greek School Committee for the preservation of her Hellenic Heritage. Pauline was a person of high values and principles and left a meaningful legacy of faith and love.
