Olympia Sarris' Obituary
Olympia Sarris, 84, entered her eternal rest on March 10, 2025, her legacy is commemorated in the lives of those she loved. As devoted mother of Suzanne (Orlando) and Michael, most loving Yiayia of Enzo and Anthony James (Orlando), spouse of 30 years Tony Sarris (deceased) and beloved “Aunt” to many, she was preceded in death by parents Thomas and Sultana (Stifapoulos) Polimeros, who emigrated from Thessaloniki, Greece in the early 1900’s.
As the youngest of three siblings, Olympia and brothers John (deceased) and James (deceased) were born and raised in Cleveland’s near east side. Growing up with two older brothers, Olympia took a keen interest in sports and was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Indians. Olympia graduated from John Adams High School in 1958. Secretarial work occupied her early years post-graduation, but the majority of her career was spent in retail sales of jewelry.
As an active member of St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church in North Royalton, Ohio, Olympia thoroughly enjoyed participating in The Ladies Philoptochos and was always a fixture selling Greek jewelry and in the serving line come festival time. Olympia was an avid cook/baker frequently inviting family and friends to enjoy her creations and especially her tyropitas.
The family will receive visitors on Friday March 14, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:30m at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 4548 Wallings Road, North Royalton, Ohio 44133.
Funeral services will be immediately following at 11:30am with interment at St. Theodosius Cemetery.
Memorial contributions will be made by the family to St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church Ladies Philoptochos Society.
