Michael Vovos' Obituary
Michael John Vovos, a good man and kind soul who brought joy, light, and love to the world, passed peacefully on March 31, 2022, at the age of 93. Funny and loving, Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife Millie (nee Zailac), with whom he shared 53 happy years of marriage. Together, they not only raised five kids, John, Mark, Ted (Rachel), Maria Oster (Terry) and Greg (Jean Marie), but also worked tirelessly as devout Orthodox Christians to serve the church and many of its ministries and service organizations. Michael was a dear grandfather to Jacob, Austyn, Francesca, Jotham, Matthew, Sophia, and Carver, all of whom were blessed by their Grandpapa’s humor and positivity. Brother of George and the late Gus, Michael was also an uncle and godfather to many. Michael had a distinguished career with the Erie Lackawanna and Conrail Railroads and honorably served his country during the Korean War as a Medic in the Army. He was in every way imaginable a good and loving man who will be deeply missed but whose spirit will always remain with those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), or to St. Herman House of Hospitality. SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6 AT 11:00 AM AT ST. DEMETRIOS GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 22909 CENTER RIDGE RD, ROCKY RIVER. Interment St. Theodosius Cemetery. FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE YURCH FUNERAL HOME, 5618 Broadview Road, Parma, on TUESDAY from 4-8 PM. TRISAGION Tuesday 5:00 PM.
