Maryann Gobel's Obituary
Maryann Gobel (nee Mims) was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on March 15, 1950 and peacefully transitioned surrounded by family into God’s eternal loving care on Sunday August 3, 2025 after a short illness. Preceded in death by her father, Roscoe E. Mims, mother, Mary D. Mims and grandson, Andrew T. Moncheck. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Larry P. Gobel of Cleveland, daughter Christine Moncheck (Rich) of Munroe Falls, and 2 sons, Nathan Gobel (Elizabeth) of Stongsville, Benjamin Gobel (Tanya) of Medina as well as her 3 siblings, Leslie Adams of Hallowell, ME, David Mims (Regina) of Fayetteville, WV, Randy Mims (Sherri) of Carl Junction, MO.
She was the most beloved Nana to her 8 grandchildren Allison (Jeremy), Andrew, Aaron (Olivia), Vinny, Dominic, Mia, Roscoe and Hailey (Marc). They will never forget that she was their biggest fan and cheerleader that could likely be heard cheering across the football stadium (Pom poms in hand), in an auditorium for dance recitals or at a baseball field. She also helped raise and cared for each of them at some point in their lives, and is so incredibly proud of them all! Maryann enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, cooking, especially baking…sewing and quilting blankets, crocheting and some knitting. We have always treasured her special creations she often gifted to us. She also loved to be on Pinterest (a lot) and would share pictures, recipes and anything she thought we’d enjoy… she was also our personal weather alert girl! As a professional worrier, you could always count on a text for weather updates your area! In her earlier years, she worked at Fashion Barn, then as a server at Red Lobster restaurant, Benny Shapiro’s, the Zodiac Room and also worked a few years at American Greetings. But the greatest roles she took pride in were that of wife, mother, Nana, big sister and an aunt to many who also experienced her genuine love and kindness. And never forget her sassy side as well! If you ever got “the look” …you know! We will miss absolutely everything about her… especially her laughter and her sweet nurturing presence in our daily lives.
Services info: there will be a private gathering to honor Maryann for immediate family only and a celebration of life at a later date to be determined for extended family and friends.
