One of my earliest memories growing up was when Auntie Mary and Uncle Oscar first stayed with us in Seven Hills. I must've been 4 or 5. That's when I realized my dad had brothers and sisters out there. My parents always tried getting the kids to use Tita/Tito for Aunt/Uncle but it just didn't stick. They were always Auntie Mary and Uncle Oscar.
Motherly. That was her role. Always trying to coax me to put my toys away and not mess up the basement...then feeding us something. There was always something on the stove....and that role stuck with her the rest of her days.
We loved going over her house because you were always welcome and you always felt at home because everyone was family to her even someone she had just met. She was magnetic.
I love you Auntie Mary! Thanks for the memories...
