Katherine "Kathy" Harris' Obituary
Katherine “Kathy” Harris, 85, of Parma, Ohio passed away on November 6, 2023. Kathy was the youngest of three children in a family that immigrated from the island of Crete, Greece in the early 20th century. Kathy was born on August 1st in Cleveland, Ohio. In her youth, she spent ample time at her family's Cleveland restaurant, The Zone Lunch. Kathy was the beloved mother of Megan; aunt to Hope Barkoukis, Sam Maropis, Hope Tzagournis, Michael Haritakis; great aunt to Athan, Andrea, Leah, Annie, Tessa, George, Gus, Luke, Sophia, and Charlie; and a beloved friend to many. She is preceded in death by her brother George, her sister Helen, and her parents Michael and Hope Harriston (Babiolis). Kathy spent decades as an executive assistant at NASA Glenn Research Center. She was an active member of the Greek women's organization, the Philoptochos. One of her greatest passions was music and she was an accomplished pianist. She is remembered for her extraordinary generosity and kindness toward all who had the privilege of knowing her. Services will be held at ST. PAUL GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 4548 WALLINGS ROAD, N. ROYALTON, OH 44133 on FRIDAY NOVEMBER 10, 2023 with viewing from 9:30-10:30am and funeral service at 10:30am. Interment at St. Theodosius Cemetery. Arrangements by Yurch Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s name directly to St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church.
