Joseph Veres' Obituary
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Joseph John Veres of
Cleveland, Ohio. “Sparky” as he was known to friends, left this world
peacefully, surrounded by family on January 10th, 2023. He was 72
years old.
Joseph, son of Margaret and Joseph Veres, was born August 2nd, 1950,
in Cleveland. He grew up in Parma Heights and graduated in 1968 from
Valley Forge High School. In 1971 he volunteered for the U.S. Army
and served with the 25th Infantry Aviation Battalion. Out of the many
places he worked, he will be most remembered for his time as head fire
alarm technician for The Metro Health Medical System.
Joseph faced life with a gentle quiet kindness and just a touch of
silliness. He was the common man in every sense. Always on the move,
he brightened the lives of his family and all who got to know him.
Helping people was Joe’s great joy. His exceptional tenacity and
hopefulness got him through life’s challenges, yet he never saw himself
as remarkable. Above all, he was a loyal and loving husband, father,
grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.
He will be intensely missed by his wife of 47 years Linda, son Michael
(Emily), daughter Abigail (Jacob), and his three grandchildren, who will
forever hold Joseph in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his grandson Gabriel Joseph.
Joseph never liked flowers, but he was extremely fond of UH-1
helicopters. In lieu of flowers please send donations to keep an old
"Huey" flying in his name.
