Joseph Pavlik's Obituary
JOSEPH PAVLIK, age 87, of Seven Hills, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020. He was born on August 26, 1932, to Jozef and Alzbeta Pavlik in Domanovce, Czechoslovakia.
In 1950, at age 18, Joseph came to America. He met his first wife, Hana Walter (from Pilzen, Czechoslovakia) while on the ship. Four years later, in 1954, they were married in Cleveland. Together they raised two sons, James and Joseph, and three daughters, Joann, Joyce, and Janet.
A hard-working father, he worked at Jim’s Delicatessen in Parma, and later, for many years, worked and retired from Hostess Bread Company in Cleveland.
In his younger years, Joseph enjoyed planting and cultivating his garden. He made homemade wine from berries and currants in his backyard. He also enjoyed watching baseball on TV, working on crossword puzzles, eating at restaurants, and going to casinos.
Joseph’s real passion was golfing. He played many years on golf leagues and particularly enjoyed the family’s golf tournaments and family reunions every year.
He was a loving father, kind and gentle, and truly loved his family.
He is survived by his second wife, Joan, to whom he shared 18 years of marriage; one son, James Pavlik (Lynn), three daughters, Joann Patchan (Thomas), Joyce Zikeli (Pete), and Janet Gray (Mike); grandchildren Timothy, Rosemary, Elizabeth, Hannah, Millie, John, Jamie, Jessica, Andrea, Amanda, Carrie and Jessie; great-grandchildren Zenik, Lincoln, Brooklyn, Carson, Marissa, Nicholas; two brothers, Frank Pavlik (Magda) and Paul Pavlik of Slovakia and their children/grandchildren; stepchildren, Mary Jo Ferenc, Joseph V. Ferenc, Andrew Ferenc (Ann) and Theresa Marhefka (Dave); and step-grandchildren, Michael, Aiden, Danielle and Lauren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his first wife, Hana, son, Joseph, and son-in-law, Mike Gray.
