Jerome "Jerry" Petrykowski's Obituary
Jerome “Jerry” Petrykowski fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at his home in Strongsville, Ohio. He was born on December 1, 1940 to Harry and Ann (Studzinski) Petrykowski in Berea, Ohio. He attended Olmsted Falls Schools and graduated from Olmsted Falls High School in 1958. Jerry played football during his high school years.
He continued his academic career at the University of Toledo and graduated in 1962 with a degree in pharmacy. Jerry was a pharmacist at Gray Drug Store in South Lorain, Ohio and then at Rite Aid in Berea. After retirement, he continued his career as a pharmacist at the Grafton Prison.
Jerry’s leisure activities included bowling on men’s league and a mixed league and playing golf. He loved fishing in Lake Erie on his Sea Ray boat in the Marblehead area with family members and friends. Jerry enjoyed fishing trips to the Pickerel river in Ontario, Canada and Pelee Island, Canada. Jerry and Daria travelled the world together including Europe, Russia, Canada, Panama Canal and China on cruises and sightseeing adventures. Mount Athos in Greece (Jerry only!), Spruce Island, Kodiak Alaska and the ancestral village of Bajerovce, Slovakia were highlights of their travels. He was a great chef (Jerry’s Kitchen) as the Petrykowskis hosted many family and friends at their Parma and Strongsville homes. And Polka music and dancing made him happy.
Jerry served on his high school reunion committee for the Olmsted High School Class of 1958.
Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Parma, Ohio was his parish for over 50 years. He served the Church in many capacities as a Council Member, volunteer, and after his retirement as an Altar Server which he took very seriously and did with love. Not to be forgotten was his role as cashier for the food sales! His attendance was strong and his love of the church helped him after the passing of his beloved wife.
Jerry is survived by his brother Jack and wife Sharon Petrykowski, sister-in-law Dia Dobos, brother-in-law Donald and wife Connie Dobos, Aunt Marian Stuart, many Godchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews and dear friends and extended family Mary Ann Bobulsky and her sons Dr. Gregory and wife Dr. Jamie Bobulsky and Andrew and wife Eva Manney and their children.
