Jeanetta Marie Hallaman's Obituary
Jeanetta Marie Hallaman (nee Artino), age 95, fell asleep in the Lord on June 22nd, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons George, David (Lisa), and Jason (Emily); her grandchildren Laura, Jennifer, Christina, Sophia, Nicholas, and Emily; and her great-granddaughter Daphne, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her former husband, Alfred “Ted” Hallaman; her father, Giuseppe Artino, and mother, Maria Cogita; and her cherished siblings, Francis Sciaulino Crimaldi, Samuel Artino, Joseph Artino, Gaetanina (Tanny) Calabrese, Anthony Artino, Maria Ingrassia, Carmelia Leanza, and Sandy Artino.
She attended Jane Addams High School in Cleveland and continued her education at Ohio University, graduating in 1953. Following graduation, she began working as a freelance radio, television, and stage actress, a career that reflected her intelligence, poise, and sharp wit.
It was during these early years in acting that she met Alfred “Ted” Hallaman, a fellow performer with a sharp comedic mind and a voice that would grace Cleveland’s airwaves for decades. Together, they formed not only a marriage but a spirited comedy duo, known for their timing, charm, and undeniable chemistry. Together they raised three boys in Cleveland Heights during their marriage of 22 years.
After spending a few early years in the classroom, Jeanetta stepped away from teaching to raise her children. In 1989, once her sons were grown, she returned to the field with renewed purpose, filling a variety of classrooms and roles as an educator until her retirement in 2005.
In the last two decades, she remained a steady, loving presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and long distance family across many states, always ready with a kind word, a thoughtful card, a seat at the table and a thoughtful prayer.
Her devotion extended through song—music was one of her greatest joys. Jeanetta sang with the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus in her earlier years and was a passionate and longstanding member of the choir at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Cleveland Heights, where she also toured with MEFGOX, the Mid-Eastern Federation of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians. Her voice—clear, strong, and full of grace—was a reflection of her spirit.
A woman of strong faith, she was deeply committed to the teachings and traditions of the Greek Orthodox Church, and spent her remaining years as a loyal servant of God at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Akron.
