Gus Page's Obituary
Gus Page, age 96, passed away April 4, 2025. He was born in Agios Georgios, Greece on July 3, 1928. Beloved husband of the late Soultana “Sonia” (nee Kapetanios). Loving father of Maria (Mark Brajdich), Evelyn (Dr Spyridon Kantas) and Steven Page (Cynthia Cruz). Dear grandfather of Athena, Elias, Soultana, Konstantinos and Konstantine. Brother of Eleni (George, deceased) Kotitsas.
Gus served in the Greek army for 4 years as a paratrooper. He went on to receive a History Degree in Greece and became a principal in Grevena, Greece. At the age of 36, he came to the United States to Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania and began his successful entrepreneurial career as a chef and restaurant owner. He owned several restaurants, hotels, and investment properties. In 1966, he met the love of his life in his restaurant in Youngstown, OH. It was love at first sight and on their first introduction Kosta told her he was going to marry her. They were married 6 weeks later and shared 57 wonderful years
together.
Gus was a very strict Greek parent, and his favorite word for his two daughters was No. He wanted his family to experience and learn all about his Greek culture by sending his family to Greece every summer.
He was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian, and deeply devoted to his family. He cherished his five beautiful grandchildren, Athena, Elias, Soultana,
Konstantinos and Konstantine. The love for his grandchildren was insurmountable, and he embraced them individually with love, advice, and guidance, helping them to become the wonderful young adults they are today.
His kindness and generosity touched many people’s hearts and lives. He has left a legacy at his birthplace by building a Greek Orthodox Church and paving the dirt roads in the village. He donated the family estate to create a national historical museum, representing Greek village life in the early days.
Our father embodied compassion and unconditional love which will live on within all of us through many generations to come. He will be greatly missed by his entire family.
