George Balasko's Obituary
George Balasko, age 89, passed away on February 13, 2026. Beloved husband of 65 years to Lucy (nee Shostak). Loving father of George J. (Mary Frances Grady), Michael (Diana), and Anthony (Christine). Dear grandfather of Amanda (Josh), Alyssa (Justin), Ashley, Brendan, Leah, and Courtney. Great grandfather of 2. Son of the late Mato and Zlata Balasko (nee Remenar). Brother of John (Jessie) and Matt (Fran), all deceased. Uncle and friend to many.
George worked 30 plus years for Tempcraft/Howmet as a tool and die maker. He volunteered for 34 years as Starosta (parish warden) at his church, St. Sergius. George loved to watch his grandchildren participate in sporting events and dance recitals, even paying them cash whether they did well or not.
George always greeted family, friends, and parishioners with a welcoming smile and a warm heart. He loved having a wife as a travel agent and traveled many times to tropical climates and all-inclusive resorts. He was a master on the dance floor whether in a traditional Croatian dance outfit, leading “Never on Sunday” at a wedding, or just dancing with his lifelong sweetheart on New Year’s Eve.
