Elma Pastor's Obituary
Charlie Elma McLendon Poston Pastor entered her eternal rest on April 23,
2025. She was 93 years old.
She was born in Colquitt, Miller County, Georgia on January 24, 1932, the
second of three children born to Boyd Felder McLendon and Mary Lou
Faircloth McLendon. She loved growing up on the farm and was a daddy’s
girl, hunting and fishing with him, and always helping out on the farm. She
attended Miller County Schools and accepted Christ as her Savior at an early
age at New Salem Free Will Baptist Church. At the age of 17, she married
Jack Dempsey Poston, son of Macon and Ernestine Poston from the Lake
Seminole area. Soon thereafter she and Jack moved to Cleveland, Ohio.
She made Cleveland her home for the remainder of her life and worked for
General Motors for 38 years.
Elma was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was
proceeded in death by her only son, John Robert “Bobby” Poston (June 28,
1951- February, 23, 2013). She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter-
in-law Jean Poston, and she will be always be lovingly remembered as
“Grandma Charlie” to her grandson Abraham and his wife Fikirte Poston, her
granddaughter Grace Poston, and to her beloved great-grandchildren. She
leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins with whom she shared her
life, leaving them many enjoyable memories.
Elma was preceded in death by her parents, Felder and Mary Lou McLendon,
her husband, Jack Poston, her son, John Poston, her sister, Mildred
McLendon Austin, her brother, Zachary Felder McLendon, and her former
husband Joe Pastor.
All Services on Tuesday April 29, 2025 at Yurch Funeral Home, 5618 Broadview Rd. Parma, OH 44134. Visitation from 11:00AM to 12:00PM with Funeral Service to follow at 12 Noon. Interment at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.
