With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Payot Lagunzad, aged 68, who peacefully departed in her sleep on December 3, 2023, at her cherished home in Cleveland, Ohio. Born in Dulag, Leyte, Philippines, Elizabeth spent most of her vibrant life surrounded by her loving family in Cleveland, Ohio.
Elizabeth was known for her endearing quirks, kindness, and genuine sincerity. She began her life's journey by assisting her father, Dr. Simplicio Lagunzad, in his clinic in the Philippines. She was a nurturing soul, extending her loving care to her siblings and her nieces and nephews during their formative years. In her later years, she dedicated herself to caring for her parents, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Elizabeth had a zest for life and took pleasure in long leisurely walks, the enchantment of music, the joy of dancing, and the company of family and friends from all corners of the country. In her interactions with others, she was an embodiment of honesty, speaking three languages but only the truth.
A selfless spirit, Elizabeth was always considering the needs of others, often surprising them with delightful treats she made herself. Her warmth and inclusivity ensured that no one ever felt left out. Whether it was a lively celebration or a quiet gathering, she was a steadfast presence, wholeheartedly engaging in the festivities or quietly savoring the moment. When welcoming visitors, she extended her hospitality gracefully, ensuring that each guest felt at ease, offered refreshments, and attended to their comfort, much like she did with her family.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Simplicio Pabro Lagunzad, her mother, Felicidad Payot Lagunzad, and her brother, Dr. Edward (Julie) Payot Lagunzad.
