Eleanor Rita Bakos' Obituary
Eleanor Rita Bakos, age 97. Beloved daughter of the late James and Catherine Bakos. Most loving sister of the following deceased: Helen, William, Stephen, Ann Bobby. Aunt, great aunt, and Godmother. Member and past officer of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 703. Eleanor had a classically trained singing voice, aspiring to become an opera singer. She was a soloist with St. Mary’s Church Choir in Van Nuys, California and sang solo on several of their liturgical albums recorded in Hollywood. Major companies she worked for in Cleveland included TRW, Motorola, and in California: RCA Aerospace Systems and Radioplane, a division of North American Aviation, the company that made the drag chute which slowed the space capsule on its re-entry to Earth. She was a world traveler having visited Europe several times. Was a USO volunteer at Cleveland Hopkins Airport and a long time volunteer at Southwest General Hospital. VISITATION MONDAY from 4 to 8PM at YURCH FUNERAL HOME, 5618 Broadview Rd. Parma, OH 44134. FUNERAL SERVICE TUESDAY MAY 16, 2023 at 10 AM at YURCH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Post 703 in Eleanor’s name. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
