Ecaterini "Katina" Benicos (nee Facaros), age 86, passed away in Ikaria, Greece on September 21, 2023. Cherished wife of George Benicos (deceased). Daughter of Father Theofanis and Presvytera Eftyhia (both deceased). Extraordinary sister of Fani (Evangelos) Konstas and George Facaros (deceased). Devoted and cherished aunt of Vicki Jordanides (Harry), Effie Konstas (George Georgakopoulos), and Maria Nakhel (Anis). Extraordinary 'Yiayiaka" of Pete, Evan, Fanoulla , Theo, Nia and Elia. Beloved aunt of Eftyhia, Dimitra and Theofanis (deceased) Facaros, Aleka, Yianni and Sideri Adamos, Maria and Katerina Benicos, and Maria Karadimitris (all of Greece).
One of Katina's greatest passions was gardening. Her love for nurturing plants was a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She cultivated not only flowers, but also lifelong bonds with those around her. Her life was a garden of love and her loved ones were the fortunate flowers in it.
In addition to her gift of gardening, Katina radiated the gift of wisdom; her words were a beacon of guidance for everyone. She had a unique way of brightening the lives of those around her with her wit, incredible conversational skills, and her invaluable advice. Her words were a source of comfort, strength, and solace, and her warmth and kindness knew no bounds. Her infectious laughter and unwavering support made her an adored sister, aunt, "Yiayiaka," godmother, and friend. She had a remarkable ability to make every moment spent with her feel like a precious gift.
In a poignant reunion, Katina will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, George Benicos, in the United States. Their love was a storybook romance that spanned a lifetime, and now they will rest together, united once more.
