So sorry that we've lost Janet. Condolences to all who knew her, especially her mother Joanne, sister Chris, and her beloved dogs Bert and Mika. I first got to know Jan about 4 or so years ago when a regular group began to meet most mornings at the Lakewood dog park. I was part of this group with my then dog Mika, as was Jan with her dogs Bert and Toby. We laughed a lot, and enjoyed each other's company and dogs. At some point later Toby Beagle died after a long happy dog life, and our morning dog group began to break up for a variety of reasons. About 20 months ago my poor walking got much worse, and I spent a few weeks at a rehab facility for my walking. While I was there, Mika was at a kennel for $40 a day, and I realized I couldn't take care of her any more. Word of my situation got to Jan, who truly came to my rescue. She picked up Mika from the kennel (saving me big $$), and later decided to keep her. As much as I love Mika, Jan gave her a much better life with a good friend to play with (Bert), a big fenced in yard to run around in, and the love of Jan and her mother Joanne. Jan then brought the "twins" (Bert and Mika are both border collie mixes and look very much alike) to visit with me many Tuesdays while Jan went to ride horses not too far away. I will be forever grateful to Jan for coming to my rescue (and Mika's), and for being a true friend. She is and will be missed.
