    Chris Karas

    November 3, 1934 - November 30, 2021

Chris Karas (Karamanis), 87, fell asleep in the Lord on November 30, 2021. Born November 3, 1934, in Siderokastro (Serres) Greece. Preceded in death by his parents, Athanasios and Styliani (Stefanidis) and brother Stefos (Sylvia+). Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dea (Cappas), sons Arthur (Susan) and George (Judy) Karas and daughter Nitsa (Jay) McClatchey; grandchildren Chris, Nicholas, Christopher, and Alexandra Karas and Maria McClatchey; sisters Dina (Vangelis+) and Bessie and brother Sotere (Sophie). Chris immigrated to the United States in 1952. He soon met Dea, the love of his life, at a church glendi. Together, they built what Chris frequently called a “beautiful life”, filled with deep love and what the Greeks call Kefi. Their home was a place of joyful gathering for their large family, numerous godchildren, and countless friends. Chris and Dea enjoyed taking trips across the United States and abroad, often to visit beloved family. Chris was a faithful member of St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church, where he served on parish council for many years. He was also active in AHEPA Chapter 480, North Royalton, Ohio. As a respected member of the Cleveland business community, Chris worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was a generous, gracious, and loving man who enjoyed playing golf and visiting with friends for coffee and a game of backgammon. The family will receive visitors from 4 pm to 8 pm Thursday, December 2, 2021, at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church 4548 Wallings Road, North Royalton, OH 44133 with a Trisagion Service at 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Friday, December 3, 2021, at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church with viewing from 10 am – 11 am prior to the funeral service. Interment at St. Theodosius Orthodox Cemetery 8200 Biddulph Rd, Brooklyn OH 44144. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris’s memory may be made to St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church (Capital Improvement Fund), Kemper House Strongsville 10890 Prospect Rd. Strongsville OH 44149, or Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Ave Cleveland OH 44110. May his memory be eternal.
