ANNA BASICH (nee Glady). 91. Passed away on Tuesday June 10, 2014 at her home (Grace House) in Austin, Texas. She was born on September 3, 1922 in Rosemont, West Virginia to father John and mother Mary Glady. Anna grew up in Rosemont, W. Virginia. She attended school there as well. She left high school to move to Aliquippa, PA to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Sam Barron. She worked helping to send money home to her family whom she had a wonderful loving relationship. She was one of 7 children, all whom now are deceased: Charles Glady, Mary Nemet, Helen Barron, Julia Childs, Michael Glady, and Margaret Wahonick. Anna met and married Andy Basich in Aliquippa, PA. They were happily married for 61 years. Andy was career military (US Marine Corp). Anna, Andy and two children lived in Florida, N. Carolina, Hawaii, California, and settled in Cleveland, OH. Anna had a restaurant in Lakewood, Ohio (Lake House) for twenty years. She loved serving others. Anna, Andy and children were founding parishioners of St. Mary Magdalene in Fairview Park. Anna baked, worked bingo, made vestments and alter clothes, and much more. She loved church and community. She loved her sister Margaret dearly and cared for her in illness for many long years. In illness, Anna moved to Austin, Texas three years ago followed by her sister Margaret who soon passed and her husband Andy in Austin, Texas. She shared a beautiful time of returning to health and joy surrounded by her daughter, Nancy (Basich) Clark and son-in-law, Doug Clark, grandchildren, Katie (Chad) Zunker, Maggie (Jason) Peters, and Ashlie (Shawn) Gleinser, and great grandchildren, Anna, Madison and Lexi Zunker, Marigrace, Faith and Clark Peters, and Grayson Gleinser. Anna’s son, Michael Basich, and daughter-in-law, Suzanne live in Tampa, Florida. They often visited Austin and Anna loved to go to Tampa where they had great times. She especially loved going to the casinos. She is survived by many loved nieces and nephews. Cousins in Ohio, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, New York, Virginia, S. Carolina whom she fondly spoke of often. Anna’s last two years were in the residence of Grace House in Austin, Texas where she had many friends. She loved to do art and play bingo there. To staff, we would like to give our sincere gratitude for their love, friendship and care of Anna. We are forever grateful. Family and friends are invited to funeral services Friday, June 20, 2014 and Divine Liturgy at 10 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Byzantine Catholic Church, 5390 West 220th Street, Fairview Park, Ohio 44126. V. Rev. Dennis Hrubiak officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Reception to follow. Family will receive friends at the church one half hour before services: 9:30 to 10:00 AM.
