Raymond A. Rady
My dear beloved godparent, Aunt Jeanette; You and Uncle Rudy are in some of my favorite memories; spending summers as a young child with my cousins, aunt and uncle when life was simple. I remember you driving Carol, Michael and I to Mayfield community pool and taking us to the giant slide on Mayfield Rd. You took us to the library even when little "Rayme" was on summer vacation, and made me read to you! I did not want to leave your house - it was so much fun with the tree fort and the jeep - the first of the "power wheels" and roller skating in Golden Gate; the trips to the Mayfield Hts. Fire Dept. because the neighbor was the Fire Chief, made us feel like first responders and bouncing down the stairs on patio furniture cushions like a toboggan in your home was priceless. The shared family vacations at Lake Cowan State Park in far southern Ohio, showed how important family time is and was! Thanks to Uncle Rudy with General Electric, seeing the first color TV, the newest "trend of the day", I have the special memory of seeing Gentle Ben and Flipper in color for the first time. Admiring Uncle Rudy's inventiveness sparked my thirst for knowledge! Nothing was "made in China" except "Chins" on Payne Avenue! With my "loaded" diaper I told you my name is Ray - me and the nickname you gave me that day still sticks after all these 50+ years. Lovin' it!
Everything to me was bigger than life back then. I know why you and Uncle Rudy were chosen to be my godparents. You are now with your brother and sisters and my beloved Baba and Duffta.
Rest in peace. Those who love us never go away. Your influence in my life will always be cherished. God rest your soul because you are forever in mine.
